I am a mom to four amazing kids and two German Shepherds, a wife, and a real estate agent…my life is pure chaos to say the least. For the last 23 years, my biggest investment has been in my kids and now that they are leaving the house one by one, I have realized that while, yes, I have done a kick ass job raising kids, I now need to re-discover myself.
I remember nearly 19 years ago, standing in line to check out at the grocery store thinking where am I…Jennifer. My hair was thrown half up in a messy bun, I was in three day old clothes with milk stains down the front waiting in line purchasing diapers and formula for my third child. I had just survived a near death delivery and was out of the house for the first time on my own. The cashier asked me how I was doing and at that moment, I smiled and said, “I am blessed to be here, just delivered my third child and Sunday is Mother’s Day and I am just happy to be here to enjoy it” – it was one of those moments where I realized I survived, I am here and no matter what, I am so blessed to be a mom…but I need to make “me” moments. Five minutes to throw on a lipgloss, run my fingers through my hair and put on a clean shirt. While being a mom is the best gift in the world, I need to hold on to me.
Well, I am back here in that same thought process…finding me. I am doing it by just following what I have taught my kids – be your biggest investment. Make you time, set goals, create a schedule, hold yourself accountable…and it is HARD!
I find myself just being exhausted just being me! But little by little, I am sticking to it and finding the little, “you did it’s” throughout my day. The biggest way I feel I can move forward is sharing, encouraging and inspiring others through the mindset of, “Be Your Biggest Investment” because in reality, your success is built from you as a person, your beliefs, your dedication, your efforts and when your mind, body, and spirit are in the right place, the sky is truly the limit!
