Rich Textured Plants | Inside & Out

It is no secret that houseplants are an excellent way to beautify your living spaces. Their dazzling array of colors, scents, and sizes not only create a beautiful ambiance, they cleanse the air you breathe! In the kitchen, herbs are not only beautiful to look at, they are great for cooking and healthier eating too.  There is also the great plants for those on the go…the fake ones! These too come in all sizes and colors and look great and need no care at all other than the occasional cleaning.

No matter what your houseplant configuration is, there is always a way to elevate it to the next level by layering textures. Broad, leafy, tropical plants are great behind furniture, awkward, nooks, and topping corner tables. Plants with intricate textures and mid-sized leaves can be added in front of or between large leaf plants to create definition. Plants with vibrant colors and smaller leaves can be front and center as a centerpiece on the coffee table, dining table, kitchen counter. I prefer to keep the plants that need daily or regular water and care front and center so I don’t forget their upkeep.

While you want to have everything come together naturally and appropriately (remembering what plants like sun and which ones do not) you want to create a comfortable space that is relaxing. You might want to save the jungle look for your porch or deck either front or back. You don’t necessarily want them to overtake the space, just affordably enhance it.

Listing your home? Plants are a great way to affordably spruce up your home…as long as the plants are living and cared for! Fresh flowers are a great enhancement at the front entry, eating areas and kitchen. Potted plants are great at the front and back doors on your porch/deck, small potted plants are great in bathrooms. I always suggest plants that have a light fragrance, you don’t want the flowers or plants to be a distraction.
